It started in my mother's kitchen this past summer. I love to eat, but I also love to feel good, and to do both at once, you have to feed yourself with intent. My culinary awakening was fueled by Deliciously Ella and the amazement that I could create decadent desserts that were dairy-free. My family encouraged me, my mother - a great home cook in her own right and former caterer - especially. Though my sister and father weren't as dazzled by my healthy desserts (I just couldn't seem to convince them that avocado + lime = key lime pie), they loved the veggie dishes I was able to combine with our favorite fishes and meats.
